YSTEM Program
Young Scientist, Technician, Engineer, and Mathematician (YSTEM) Program is an after school activity that conducted every two weeks for elementary, junior and high school students. The program aims to develop students’ creativity, critical thinking, collaborative skills, and communication skills. It is conducted on Saturday from 9.00 a.m – 15.00 pm WIB (Western part of Indonesia time). It have been conducting since February 2019.
YSTEM program Batch 1 was conducted on February 2019-June 2019.
YSTEM program activities challenged students to solved or deal with some proposed problem or issues. In the first meeting of Batch 1, Irma Rahma Suwarma, PhD explained the meaning of STEM and showed some examples of STEM career. She motivated students to have career in STEM as one of YSTEM program goals. She also asked students to think critically and solved the proposed problem creatively.
Parents were invited to the first meeting in order to observe children activities and to understand the purposes and the sequences of the activities. Irma Rahma Suwarma, PhD asked parents to support and motivate their children. She hope that parents will be proud of the children’s’ achievement after joining YSTEM Program.
