
The Indonesian Team Wins Gold Award at the IMSCC 2020 Event In South Korea
In the midst of a pandemic that has yet to end, the 2020 International Mathematical Creativity Competition (IMSCC) was held online via a zoom conference with the theme of ‘Overcome The Covid-19 Crisis!’. This competition, which has been held since 2007 by the Foundation for the Advancement of STEAM (FAS) in South Korea, aims to attract gifted children with exceptional creativity skills by testing students’ ability to logically express and realize diverse and creative ideas through the process of planning, designing, and teamwork using 4DFrame as the media and covering various fields of science such as Mathematics, Science, and Arts.

This year’s competition was held on October 24th 2020 and was attended by students from kindergarten to high school levels from various countries such as South Korea, Sweden, America, China, the Philippines, Oman, Indonesia, etc. The Indonesian team under the guidance of 4DFrame-STEM Education Center, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia was represented by 7 students, Dzaky, Diastra, Lify who came from SMP Labschool UPI then Hilmiy, Ananta, Axl who came from SMP Muhammadiyah 8 Bandung and Iusthin who came from SD Labschool. UPI Cibiru. These Indonesian representative participants participated in three competition categories, Creativity III for elementary level participants, Invention and Maker for participants in grade 7 and the Mechatronics category for participants in grades 8 and 9.
Dzaky Raihan, a student from SMP Labschool UPI won the Gold Award after participating in the Mechatronics category with his work called ‘Contactless Covid-19 Victim Evacuation Robot’. Meanwhile, Iusthin, who comes from SD Labschool UPI Cibiru, won a Bronze Award in the Creativity III category with his work carrying the idea of Learning Math From Home with Your Family. Not only that, two other students received an Encouragement Award and three others received a Special Award.
